An Afternoon at Linne Woods

One of the more regular and less adventurous bike routes I've been
taking this summer is the North Branch trail, which follows along the
north branch of the Chicago River from Northfield up to Park Ridge.
Halfway there is an off-trail opening in the woods which reveals the
River and a small bridge leading to a gravel walking path. The path
also branches off to a large scenic prairie preserve. On the bridge
I experimented with different landscape compositions and
(remarkably) spotted a snapping turtle submerged underwater.
Later I spotted an very common and unfriendly nocturnal rodent.
